SAN ANDREAS SHERIFF'S OFFICE

Blaine County / Los Santos County

Welcome to the San Andreas Sheriff's Office!  The Sheriff's Office is split into two departments, one being Blaine County Sheriff's Office, founded in 1823, the other being Los Santos County Sheriff's Office, founded 1889.  Though they are split into two, the office is ran by one Sheriff, with one chain of command.  Collectively they are the S.A.S.O.  They patrol mainly the rural and unincorporated areas within the state.  S.A.S.O. prides themselves on professionalism and service.  The duties of the office include but are not limited to, protecting citizens and property, responding to 911 calls, conducting traffic stops, conducting investigations, fugitive recovery, air patrol, private protection, water patrol, national park and mountain services, transit patrol (within Blaine County only), providing security for courthouse as well as maintaining Bolingbroke penitentiary.  They are also in charge of the states hunting and fishing registry.

RANKING STRUCTURE

SHERIFF

The Sheriff oversees the entire office and has final say on any and all situations.  He passes orders down to the Under Sheriff and exchanges information for better ways to improve the office.

UNDER SHERIFF

The Under Sheriff's responsibility is to pass direct orders from the Sheriff to the staff and monitor the overall operations of the office and report directly to the Sheriff.

MAJOR

The Sheriff Major is a top management position with the office.  They are in charge of multiple divisions and must report to their higher ranks.

CAPTAIN

The Sheriff Captain is in charge of a given division.  They report and assist their Majors whenever needed.

LIEUTENANT

The Sheriff Lieutenant is the first senior officer in the department. The promotion includes increased responsibilities such as supervision of the officers with lower ranks and reporting directly to the captain of the division they are in.

SERGEANT

This is the first major promotion within the office.  This role is to supervise and further assist with training the new Deputies.

DEPUTY

Everyone starts with this rank and moves up.  This position mainly is patrolling roads and highways and making traffic stops.

DEPUTY RECRUIT

This is the lowest rank within the office.  A recruit has the same responsibilities as a normal Deputy except they haven't taken or passed the Police Academy training course yet.

OFFICE SUBDIVISIONS

PARK RANGER

The Park Rangers are a subdivision of the Sheriff's Office.  Their primary responsibility is to enforce all park regulations and state laws within any state or national park.  They also make sure any hunters and fishermen have valid credentials. 

LOS SANTOS SHERIFF'S OFFICE

The Los Santos Sheriff's Office is tasked with assisting the Los Santos Police Department enforce laws throughout the city and county.

FUGITIVE RECOVERY UNIT

The Fugitive Recovery Unit was formed to bring to justice those who skip out on bail, fail to show up for parole hearings, escape from prison and serving high risk warrants. 

ENHANCED PURSUIT DIVISION

The main focus of the Enhanced Pursuit Division is to safely engage in and end traffic pursuits while minimizing potential risks to citizens and property.
